Dark City Mint is Roasted Cacao Nibs with enough Peppermint to turn it into a flavour balance that many will find very familiar. It has been accused of being a Thin Mint or York Peppermint Patty in a cup. It has also been accused of being addictive.
Dark City Mint was a natural result of starting to use chocolate in teas. Mister Tea has a passion for almost all things that involve Chocolate and Mint, and a friend who suggests tea ideas from time to time had made it part of a list of chocolate suggestions.
Dog's Life: Expecto (Kennel) Coughonum was blended because of our most recent rescue.
She is an amazing dog, but she brought a strain of kennel cough home with her, and I need to get her healthy, and keep our other two pups from becoming unhealthy due to her arrival. The tea was blended to attack both the possible viral option as well as the bacterial.
All three of our pups took to it quite happily, both as liquid and as dried added to their food. Dulce recovered, and Domino and Chasyr stayed healthy.
Expecto Coughonum is a lightly sweet lightly lemon herbal tea blended to help with coughing.
There are a number of situations and issues that my partner and I knew we had to create teas for early on. Coughing is one of them.
One of the reasons why herbs are so lovely, is that many of them act differently depending on what you currently need. Or, more accurately, they provide your body with the tools, so it can do what it needs. This tea is a good example of this. If you need mucous loosened so you can cough productively, Expecto Coughonum can help with that. If you just need to stop coughing because your body can't take it anymore, it can help with that. If you need that tickle in the back of your throat to stop so that it will stop making you cough, it can help with that, too.
'Gysahl Green' is a refreshing green tea blend, with lemongrass, lemon peel, and calendula added in for additional beat-the-heat taste.
It was inspired by a game series that we have both loved for years, triggered by starting to play the most recent in the sequence.
The community in the game was supportive and encouraging, and made us realize that we had not yet saluted this particular geek influence with a tea.
Heart of the Blue Box was inspired by our love of Doctor Who. It is a wonderful combination of green tea, rose, and blueberries.

Hello Sweetie is a Chocolate Chili Chai that was inspired by a particular character from the Whovian universe.
River Song and her story are a long running thread in the current Who, and one that fascinated me. Upon considering the character, I decided she most certainly would not be vanilla, and a good dose of spice would also be appropriate. This combined with an email from an old friend mourning a tea she could no longer have... and we started experimenting with using Cacao Nibs (chocolate) in tea.
This tea has become so popular among friends and family that when we have company it is an effort to keep it in our personal stock. It has been enjoyed alongside dessert, as a morning wakeup, and has been accused of being addictive.
Hershel's Gift is a tasty combination of Yarrow, Peppermint, and Elderberries. The combination is a very effective package for fighting many of the causes of cold and flu, and it eases many of the symptoms.
The Walking Dead is a show I have followed for quite some time, and I was surprised that the writing drew me in so thoroughly. I wasn't expecting such depth from a show about the Zombie Apocalypse. One of the things I love about the show is that the characters are fully realized. They are not one dimensional, and they are not campy sketches. Hershel became one of my favorite characters as they fleshed him out, and the Walking Dead gained even more of my respect when he went outside the fences to gather Elderberry. As an herbalist, seeing information presented that was accurate was quite a treat.
At the time I jested that we shoud rename our elderberry cold and flu tea in his honor. I set the idea aside to think about, and it got lost in the day to day rhythm of life and tea.
However, when they killed him, it came right back to the forefront of my mind. So, in honor of the character, and in memorium, we present to you Hershel's Gift.
Inara's Evening Blend is a chai that adds the exotic taste of pomegranate to the mix.
Pomegranate has always been a love of mine, and Chai has been right there with it. We had wanted to salute Inara, as we had the Browncoats and the Hero of Canton, and we thought this particular chai suited her rather well. Amusingly enough, to date, this was our most complicated tea to blend.
'Javert's Choice' is our dark chocolate blueberry cocoa.
The taste was inspired by chocolate covered blueberries. (There is a particular memory of them for me that is a happy one.)
In order to get the blend of the cocoa right, both for dissolving into the milk properly, and for the taste, we use an organic raw blueberry powder.
Jayne's Cocoa Kickback has a foundation of Roasted Cocoa Nibs, with Ginger and Hops added for taste, and Marshmallow Root to soothe.
When we started working with Cacao Nibs, the ideas came fairly swiftly. Chocolate is such a wonderful taste, it lends itself to a number of different ideas. The idea for Browncoat's Desperation came almost immediately, and fast on its heels was this one, inspired by the Hero of Canton.
Chocolate seemed a good base, and Hops were added because we thought he would need a familiar taste to be willing to try an herbal tea. The Marshmallow and Ginger followed as soothing and relaxing elements, because a life lived the way Jayne lives his would need both.
While this was blended as a flavour tea, and as one of our geeky homage teas, it would work well as a medicinal, too. It would assist in finding sleep when ill, and the Marshmallow and Ginger ease stomach and throat irritation.
